TTF ON THE ROAD
Team TTF is having a wonderful
time showing in Wilsonville, Oregon, where the show grounds are absolutely
beautiful. Paige and Sammy
Waslewski, Caitlin Houlihan, Rashea Kasavenda’s young horse Le Lapin
along with Janet and Sydney are all enjoying the show in Wilsonville. The
show grounds are gorgeous, containing beautiful trees, meadows, and trails
that the horses and people alike really enjoy. The beautiful weather is a
perfect escape from the Arizona heat.
The first week Caitlin and her
new horse Utopik were Reserve Champion
in the Modified Jr/AO jumpers at their first show together! Paige and
Shalimar as well as Sammy and her new mare Winter Eclipse won a few
classes as well as other top placings in their jumper divisions. This was
a huge accomplishment seeing as it is Sammy’s first show with her mare.
The two new horses, Pik and Ellie, have been turning heads all over the
show grounds each time they enter the ring.
Guiseppe and Janet were fast and clean in the $10,000 Jumper
Classic the first week. Meagan Jordan beat them by only 2/10’s of a
second, awarding Janet second place. In the same class, Diamond Rock was
also Double Clean and 5th out of the 9 horse jump off. Shae’s
new horse, Lapin, sure is the talk of the town up here in Wilsonville!
Everyone always asks about the pretty white-tailed horse and admires him
as he goes around. He, along with all of the horses, are really enjoying
all of the beautiful trail rides through the lush forests to relax.
The second week brought about a
lot of excitement with the entire show grounds being sold out, but that
didn’t stop team TTF! The Waslewskis and their horses earned many top
placings and won a few classes as well. Paige and her family sure know how
to bring the fun at all times and we will miss them on this off week. The
second week Caitlin Houlihan and Pik were champion of the Low Jr/AO
jumpers AND won the mini prix out of about 25 horses. Caitlin and Ravel
were also fourth in the very competitive Medium Jr/AO Classic.
Janet and Guiseppe were also big winners in the 20,000$ Grand Prix
winning the class and being the only pair to go double clean in the 4
horse jump off in a class of many top level horses and riders.
June 27 – till July 3 TTF will
be laying over at the most beautiful equine facility you have EVER seen,
Wild Turkey Farm. Barbara
Allison, the owner of Wild Turkey Farm, is having us over for a cook out
during the off week and we are very grateful to be riding and training at
this fantastic facility for this week.
We are looking forward to having
Kelly Bogaard, Maggie Lang, Shae Kasavenda, Sarah Williams, MiMi Brown,
Kendall Hormell, for the second half of the Wilsonville Shows.

Did you know? Legends say that hummingbirds
float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration.
The hummingbird’s delicate grace reminds us that life is rich,
beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning, and that
laughter is life’s sweetest creation.

HORSEMANSHIP TIPS
Good horses are hard to find,
REMEMBER THE WINNERS ARE USUALLY MORE DIFFICULT TO RIDE.
If you have spent your whole life riding in a nice slow luxury car
or a big bus and suddenly you are given a race car, it takes you time to
learn how to drive it. It’s
a challenge; that is what riding jumpers is all about- enjoying this
challenge.
Importance of horsemanship; learn
to sweat the details, pay careful attention to every aspect of your horse,
fitness, feeding, show schedule, horses are not disposable.
Fitness programs consist mostly of flatwork, with hill work and
trail rides added in when possible. Very
little jump schooling is necessary when horses are performing and showing.
This will result in soundness well into their teen years.
Observe your horse constantly, spend time with them hand-walking,
grazing, longeing and just relaxing together in their stalls.
Horses have individualized programs, therefore riders should be
ever changing their riding to fit the horse as opposed to forcing horses
to change their natural ways to suit the rider.
Always remember that horses are athletes… when they have a bad
day, that’s OK.
