Mary is a true horsewoman whose education, experience, and background is incredibly well-rounded. She has widespread understanding of the development of horses and riders from all ages and levels. Mary began her life with horses very young and always persevered to learn from the best and develop several green horses, including OTTB’s, into successful A Circuit hunters and jumpers. With a strong work ethic throughout her entire life, Mary worked hard, rode anything and everything, and even learned to braid for others in order to make money to show. She had the opportunity to work and groom for top trainers such as Gary Ryman at the Menlo Circus Club in California, Jennifer Atkinson Newell, Richard Keller, Laurie and Bridget Strang, among others. Mary was able to ride and clinic with numerous top names in show jumping during her career such as Archie Cox, George Morris, Anne Kursinski, Karen Healy, Kyle King, and Nicole Simpson.
In 2002, Mary went to Northern Germany where she rode for a riding school. She would jump horses in the mornings and ride Dressage in the evenings. During this time she traveled over 3,000 miles attending shows and watching some of the top riders in the sport compete in the International Grand Prixes.
After this experience she moved back to the states to partially manage the enormous Rancho Polo Equestrian center located in Indio, California (right next to Thermal). Here, is where she met Grand Prix Rider Jenni McAllister and her husband Steve McAllister who hired Mary to manage their barn and work for them. Mary began teaching professionally shortly after and became the sole manager of the 80 acre Rancho Polo Facility. This facility is 3 miles down the street from Thermal and becomes a seasonal hub for trainers from all over the continent. During her 15 years of management at the facility she was able to make connections, learn from, and work for riders and trainers such as Kyle King, Charlie and Haley Schwab, John Anderson, Tracey Epp, Jamie Barge, John Pearce, Liz Ashton, Mary Masterson, Julie Winkel, Eduardo Hegewisch, among many more.
